About

Three Jewels Temple (TJT) is a non-profit organization that was registered in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. The principal purpose of our organization, according to its by-laws, is to promote cultural, religious, and educational awareness of Buddhism, which is mainly practiced in South-East Asia. The future purpose of TJT would be to establish a Religious, and Cultural Center, so as to disseminate Theravada Buddhism and find teachings of Buddha.

Our organization serves for both active members and non-members of our community who can have interest and motivation to have a meaningful life, according to Buddha’s teachings.

The business affairs of TJT are currently managed under the guidance of the Board & Committees. Detailed information about duties and responsibilities of the Board and Trustees will be described in the by-laws to be made available on this website in the near future.

TJT will engage in gathering events for key Buddha’s days, such as Buddha Day, Waso Robe Offering, Kahtain Robe Offering, as well as some fundraising activities, as appropriate. The organizing committee has its monthly meetings at appropriate Sunday afternoons, at the new monastery – 838, W. Ritner Street, Philadelphia. Provision of food at the meetings is voluntary. The meetings are open to all interested people. So, please contact a member or President if you are interested in attending an upcoming meeting.

We plan to have some working committees in the future. We are always looking for new volunteers, members, and new ideas. And, we also welcome a broad-based participation. If you are interested in serving on any of the committees, please contact any one of the board members.

We are planning to file TJT as tax-exempt status from federal tax under section 501(a) of the Internal Revenue Code as an organization described in Section 501(c)(3). For that, we plan to file its tax return every year as of December 31 and comply with all appropriate state/federal laws and regulations. Details of the tax exempt/charitable trust registration will be posted later in the year.

We plan to have the financial statements of TJT Inc audited every year. Future financial statements as well as other information about pledges and tax returns can be requested from the Treasurer (to be appointed later). The names of all officers will be listed on our Website under Board & Committees.
